one player can win you a t20 game on his day-sehwag

DURBAN: Delhi Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag was a happy soul after his side registered an amazing win over Deccan Chargers. He batsman spoke highly about the man of the match Rajat Bhatia and said his team is the most balanced side in the tournament.

On if Delhi Daredevils are a champion team: I would not say that it is a champion team but yes we are a good side. We have a balanced side. The rub of the green was on our side the way we won. When Adam Gilchrist and Andrew Symonds were batting we had no chance of winning. We thought if Symonds stayed till the end the match would get over early. But luckily we got the wickets and won the match.

On being the most balanced side: I think we have the most balanced side in the tournament. If you have noticed, we have different match-winners every time we win. It has been Vettori, Dilshan, de Villiers, Nannes, Nehra and today Rajat Bhatia. I have always believed that one player can win you a Twenty20 game. It all depends upon whose day it is.

On Rajat Bhatia: Bhatia bowled really well. I don't think anyone expected him to perform that well. He took four wickets and led the side to victory. I know Rajat's strengths and weaknesses. I knew he can bowl yorkers in the death. It was not easy to hit him as it was pretty windy. And Rajat used the wind beautifully.

On getting Symonds and Smith in quick succession: One cannot win a match until one gets the hard-hitters in the opposition. So, it is important for any team to get the wicket of match-winners.

On the pitch and Symonds: The way Symonds was batting I thought no one would be able to stop him. The wicket was good to bat on. I think we scored 173 and then they chased it well. They almost won the game. Even under lights, the ball was coming nicely on to the bat. In the first innings, the ball was not coming on but later the wicket helped the batsmen.

On success of part-timers: I think because every batsman is looking to hit the part-timers. So, the batsman takes his chances against them and it also gives an opportunity to the bowler. Rohit Sharma, Venugopal Rao and others have taken wickets in the tournament.

On Gilchrist: Retirement does not take away the talent one possesses. I think he retired because his body couldn't handle the pressure of international cricket but in Twenty20 things are different. If one is fit then he can play till 41 or 42. Gilly is immensely talented.

On Ranji cricketers coming good: I think most of the teams have their Ranji cricketers. If you look at Mumbai they have a lot of Ranji cricketers in their team. Rahane and Venugopal Rao have been performing well. So every team has one or two players who are representing their state in Ranji Trophy. It is great to have successful domestic players in the team. One has to field seven Indian cricketers and if they are good then nothing like that.

On Karthik: I went ahead of Dinesh Karthik because I knew that he was in fine form. And he will score runs at whatever position he goes into bat.
