
CENTURION: Delhi Daredevils found double delight during another routine victory, this one a four wicket verdict over Mumbai Indians in the DLF Indian Premier League here on Thursday – they opted to test their mettle when chasing and met with succeess but, more importantly, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag got among the runs. In game of little consequence and with Friday's semifinal looming, Sehwag won the toss and decided that his team would like chase a score. Mumbai Indians responded with a tall score of 165 for eight in 20 overs, riding on contributions from Sachin Tendulkar (46) and Ajinkya Rahane (56), even though Dirk Nannes claimed three for 27 with his left-arm pace bowling. Gambhir and David Warner raced off a quick start of 36 in 3.3 overs and set the stage for the Sehwag-Gambhir show to come on. After a series of lackluster shows, they strung together a 68-run stand that reassured their fans that their below par showing was behind them. Gambhir made 47 off 38 balls (eight fours) and Sehwag (50, 27 balls, five fours, two sixes). Delhi Daredevils faced a minor mid-innings hiccup when Harbhajan Singh claimed four wickets in the span of nine deliveries to infuse some home into the Mumbai Indians' bid to sign off from IPL with a farewell win. But Amit Mishra his JP Duminy for a four and six to ensure that Delhi Daredevils would win with 15 balls to spare. Delhi Daredevils finished the round robin stage with 20 points from 10 wins from 14 games, three points clear of the second placed Chennai Super Kings. Mumbai Indians, who were hoping to straddle over Rajasthan Royals and take the sixth place, finished with 11 points from five wins and a no-result. They stayed seventh ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders.
